If you saw our last post on Virtual Community Outreach Meetings, you know that the CCC had previously extended the Administrative Order allowing virtual COMs until September 1st, 2021. On that day, the CCC issued a new order further extending license applicant’s use of virtual Community Outreach Meetings until April 1, 2022. So even though Governor Baker has rescinded the Emergency Order and many in-person events are occurring, the CCC has preserved the option of a virtual community outreach meeting for anyone seeking to submit a license application.
Whether you want to ensure a Covid-safe meeting, or it is impractical for your group to travel for the meeting, a virtual COM is a great option. However, make sure you comply with the conditions in the CCC Administrative Order. There are steps you must take prior to holding the meeting, including getting written permission from the municipality, setting up a web page, accepting questions in advance, arranging to record the meeting, designating a moderator and more.
Failure to comply with these requirements could result in your application being returned and delayed while you schedule and hold another meeting. We’ve done a lot of these virtual COMs, so give us a call if you have any questions.
